Is asafoetida (hing) NONG safe?

I've been using hing in my cooking as a substitute for onion and garlic. But I've heard some brands mix garlic powder into their hing. Which brands are truly NONG safe?

Great question! Most compounded hing (the common yellow powder) DOES contain garlic powder. For truly NONG hing, look for 'pure' or 'compound-free' hing. Brands like LG Hing, Catch Pure Hing, and Vandevi Pure Hing are tested and garlic-free. Always check if the label says 'Pure Asafoetida' vs just 'Compounded Asafoetida'.
